Over the course of our camp, campers witnessed the remarkable Evolution of the Olympic Games - from the ancient contests of Greece, where only a few competed, to the modern global spectacles that welcome athletes of all genders and nations. They explored how the Games expanded from modest gatherings into televised epics, how traditions evolved, and how innovation and cultural exchange shaped every era. By tracing this journey, campers not only saw history unfold but also understood how progress, inclusivity, and imagination drive both the Olympics and the creative spirit at RAZ Land. 🌍🏅🎨

Week 1: Myth Makers & Medal Takers – Welcome to Ancient Greece!

🌿 Campers kicked off the summer by stepping into Ancient Greece, exploring the origins of the Olympic spirit. Sculpting Olympic athletes, designing their own Olympic symbols, and diving into Greek philosophy, kids brought the Ancient Greek legacy to life in interactive, hands-on ways. From art to storytelling, this week set the tone for a summer of creativity and discovery. 🏛️


Week 2: ✈️ Time Travelers – The Invention Games

The early 20th century inspired Week 4 projects, highlighting the first Winter Olympics, the modern pentathlon, and advances in medicine and science. Campers explored talking films with The Jazz Singer and the first Olympic flame in Amsterdam, blending history, art, and innovation in a week filled with creative learning. 🔥🎬


Week 5: 🦸‍♂️ Superheroes, Science, and the First Olympic TV Show

Week 6: 🚀 Out of This World – Rockets, Reefs & Renaissance

🌍 Week 6 transported campers to an era of extraordinary transformation. Inspired by the 1956 Olympics - the first Games broadcast globally via satellite - kids explored the Space Race and built their own rockets, celebrated scientific milestones like the polio vaccine and integrated circuits, and embraced the vibrancy of Pop Art, creating colorful pieces that captured the modern spirit. 🎨


Week 7: 🌙 Moon Jumps & Peace Quilts – The Games That Changed the World

Week 8: 🎉 Opening Ceremonies & 80s Flashbacks

Week 8 brought the excitement of Opening Ceremonies to RAZ Land. Kids produced a low-budget, high-energy performance celebrating European, American, and Asian art and culture, from the '80 Moscow Games to the '84 LA Olympics and the iconic '88 Seoul Games. Campers explored Neo-Expressionism, & the rise of technology, celebrating the spirit of the 1980s. 🌍✨


Week 9: 🌟 Dream Teams & Dot Paintings – The World Reconnects

The 1990s and early 2000s came alive in Week 9. Campers celebrated the legendary basketball Dream Team in Barcelona 1992, Muhammad Ali and Michael Johnson’s victories in Atlanta 1996, and the debut of women’s soccer and beach volleyball. Breakthroughs like Dolly the Sheep’s cloning and Google’s founding added scientific inspiration, while the 2000 Sydney Olympics highlighted sustainability, diversity, and the unforgettable 400m gold by Cathy Freeman. 🏀⚽🌏


Week 10: 🏅 Bolt, Phelps & Paper Castles – Stories That Win Gold
